Incontinence is a common problem that affects men from different walks of life. This issue can interfere with your regular activities and can even become embarrassing when not handled properly. Fortunately, managing urinary incontinence doesn’t have to be difficult.
You have probably worn an absorbent product if you suffer from incontinence. And while most people use disposable absorbent items, we're here to remind you that this isn't your only choice.
Washable incontinence underwear is becoming more and more popular these days since they not only look and feel great, but they also benefit the environment.
What is Washable Incontinence Underwear?
Washable incontinence underwear is exactly what it sounds like, underwear that can catch bladder leaks and can be washed and reused like regular underwear afterward. They are specialized underwear designed to protect against incontinence by having an embedded pad that absorbs leaks. They basically function like adult diapers except for the fact that they are washable and reusable.
How Do I Choose the Best Incontinence Underwear?
Choosing the right product can be challenging because there are many different types of incontinent underwear available from different brands on the market. To help you with this problem, you should consider the following factors in deciding which products to buy.
Cost
Price is always a major consideration when buying something. You should know your budget before making any purchases. Even if you have a high budget, you don’t want to buy an overpriced product so make sure to find incontinence underwear that is fairly priced for the features they offer.
Absorbency
You should look for incontinence underwear that has the right level of absorbency for your needs. If you have light incontinence, underwear that can hold at least up to 7 ounces of liquid is usually enough. However, if you have severe incontinence or frequent leakage issues, you should look for more absorbent products to avoid frequent changing of underwear.
Comfort
Regardless of the situation, nobody wants to wear uncomfortable underwear. You should look for incontinence underwear that is made of breathable materials that will allow you to move freely without causing any pain or discomfort. Finding a product that has a great fit also helps greatly in achieving maximum comfort.
Quality
Incontinence underwear is something you can expect to use for a long time so invest in high-quality products that will last long enough to get your money’s worth. To ensure that you get the quality you pay for, it’s also best to buy products from reliable brands.

FAQs about Washable Incontinence Underwear
Read our FAQs on washable incontinence underwear to learn more about this product and how it can help you.
What are the benefits of washable incontinence underwear?
Washable incontinence underwear's emphasis on comfort and discretion is its main benefit. This means that while wearing them you can wear whatever you want without worrying about bulk or apparent bulges. The reusable nature of the product also means that in the long run, they are more cost-effective than their disposable counterparts because you won't need to buy them frequently.
What distinguishes men’s incontinence underwear from unisex options?
Style and absorbency placement are the main differences between men’s incontinence underwear and unisex options. Unisex incontinence underwear typically offers better all-around protection to cater to both genders. However, incontinence underwear specifically made for men usually concentrates their absorption in the frontal area, where men are more likely to experience urine leakage.
How Does Incontinence Underwear Work?
Washable incontinence underwear provides protection from incontinence with the advantage of being reusable rather than disposable. The protection level will differ depending on the absorbency level of each product. Most products like the ones we have recommended above offer 4-layer technology absorbent protection. These four layers are made of drainage, water absorption, leakproof, and separate cotton layer to ensure superior absorbency and best protection against leaks.
How long can I use washable incontinence underwear?
On average, washable incontinence underwear should be changed four to six times each day or every four to six hours. Of course, this number can differ depending on your needs and the absorbency of the product you are using. Some people may feel more comfortable changing them more frequently, while others may be able to manage them less often. In terms of its durability, most washable incontinence underwear can be washed up to 200+ times when it is properly washed and taken care of. Naturally, cheaper options can be less durable so it’s best to buy high-quality products from trusted brands like the ones listed above.
How To Wash Incontinence Underwear?
Generally, washable incontinence underwear is washed in the same manner as regular laundry, however, you should avoid adding fabric softener to them as this can decrease absorbency in some products. In terms of drying, you can tumble dry them on low heat or dry them naturally away from direct sunlight. Manufacturers also usually have washing instructions on each product so it’s best to check on them for extra care.

PICK BETWEEN REUSABLE UNDERWEAR AND DISPOSABLE UNDERWEAR
If you have urinary incontinence, you can often feel embarrassed, and self-conscious when leaks happen. It can be a daunting and isolating experience. You may worry about the odor in your underwear or whether people around you can see any urine leakage. Bladder leaks should not disrupt your day or your peace of mind.
Incontinence issues are common and normal
Incontinence is a common medical issue that causes bladder leaks. Urinary incontinence affects about 400 million people around the world according to the International Continence Society. Many women experience bladder leaks from urinary incontinence or fecal incontinence when the pelvic floor muscles weaken due to age, pregnancy, or childbirth. Whether your incontinence issues are short-term or long-term, many brands of incontinence products like diapers, pads, and reusable underwear help to manage incontinence and make incontinence less of a burden for you.
A Twitter user with incontinence issues says this about the peace of mind reusable and disposable underwear provide:
"Imagine that you get changed out of a super full diaper and you are going to go swimming in an hour. You could put on a disposable diaper for an hour, then toss it, basically unused. OR you could put on a cloth diaper, then take it off to swim (or heck leave it on!)- @Snazithus, Twitter.
So between disposable diapers and incontinence underwear, which style should you pick?
What is Washable incontinence underwear?

A Twitter user with an underlying medical condition says this about the benefit of washable incontinence underwear buying leak underwear so I don't have to deal with pads for bladder issues. So much easier with brain fog. Also less odor" -@POTSparty.
Reusable incontinence underwear is more discreet
Reusable incontinence underwear can make you feel less self-conscious. Because they look just like regular underwear, they are a closer-fitting style and comfortable. If you have sensitive skin, reusable underwear is the better alternative.
Washable incontinence underwear's material is often made out of nylon, cotton, and polyester, so they look and feel no different than regular underwear. The latex-free, reusable, breathable fabric is gentle on the skin.
Washable Incontinence underwear saves you money over the long term
Each costs about $15 per count and you can need 1-2 pieces a day. On average, they can be washed 200 times and can be used for 3-6 months. In one year, the cost is about $90-$120.

Your underwear choice could save the planet. Incontinence undies and briefs are reusable and are the more eco-friendly option.
Cons Of Washable Underwear
Not suitable for total incontinence or fecal incontinence adults
Design for light to heavy incontinence adults, washable incontinence underwear can't hold up to 500ml urine. Washable incontinence underwear does not offer enough protection when leaks happen from overflow incontinence or fecal incontinence.
What is Disposable Underwear?
Disposable incontinence products like adult diapers and pads are the most products commonly used for managing urinary incontinence. They are quick to put on, disposable, and offer protection from heavy incontinence leaks.
Pros of Disposable Underwear
Use Disposable Underwear for heavy incontinence
Due to their high absorbency, disposable underwear is a popular choice for managing heavy leakage.
Disposable underwear provides maximum absorbency
Their absorbency levels are higher than washable incontinence underwear. Use incontinence adult diapers if frequent urine leaks happen and you need maximum absorbency.
Disposable underwear protects from fecal leakage
Super absorbency also means that you can wear disposable underwear if you have fecal Incontinence.
Leak protection and odor protection are in the product style of disposable underwear High-capacity disposable underwear has multiple voids which collect urine leaks. When the multiple voids fill up, the liquid capacity is filled. This offers protection from urine leaks and odors.
Easy To Use and No maintenance is required
If doing laundry is a hassle for you, save yourself some trouble and time. Reusable underwear is disposable. You just throw them away after every use. They are most convenient for men and women with mobility issues or the elderly in nursing homes.
Cons Of Disposable Underwear
Disposable underwear is indiscreet
Disposable underwear can be bulky and is more noticeable when you wear clothing. You will need to wear dark clothes to prevent visibility.
Disposable underwear can be harsh on sensitive skin
Disposable underwear can be irritating to sensitive skin. You need to change them frequently to avoid skin rashes.
Disposable Underwear is expensive
Each costs about $0.6 per count. On average, a person changes 1-2 pieces a day. These costs can add up to $219-$438 a year. In the long term, this will run up your shopping costs.
Single-use style incontinence products are harmful to the environment
Many brands of diapers and pads are disposable products. You always have to discard them after every wear which mostly ends up as landfill waste.
Choosing the right incontinence underwear for you
Even with incontinence issues, you still deserve the freedom to wear clothing of any style with peace of mind. So, how can you choose the best incontinence underwear for you?
Here are some key factors to consider
Consider your absorbency level
If you have light or moderate bladder leaks, reusable underwear is the best choice for you. For overflow bladder leaks or bowel leakage, disposable incontinence underwear can help you.
Consider your wallet
Using washable underwear can save $300 more than disposable underwear on average a year. In short, if you have very severe bladder leakage or fecal incontinence, disposable underwear is your irreplaceable choice. Apart from that, washable incontinence underwear is your best choice.

Wearing adult diapers in the summertime can get really uncomfortable and so in this video I'm going to talk about a different type of incontinence product and I'm actually really excited to talk about this incontinence underwear here.
You know adult diapers are medical devices used to manage incontinence and you know I make these videos so people can know how to pick out leakproof underwear. I am very excited to help people that have incontinence.
I've recently gotten these reusable briefs from carer which is a new company that makes these incontinence products.
What is the Most Comfortable Incontinence Underwear For Men
If you watch a lot of my videos you know that typically I'll wear a full tape on a high-capacity adult diaper and you know I do wear these every day to work. But it's summertime I'm outside all day, maybe I'm doing some yard work maybe I'm going to work out maybe. I'm out in the heat you know I live in. The south gets triple digits. It's actually going to be 99 degrees today. And I'm not going to need a full high capacity adult diaper to go spend the day outside.
It's very uncomfortable if I'm outside all day in the heat wearing an adult diaper.
But something like this absorbent underwear is just absolutely perfect because it will give me a little bit of protection enough protection and it's much more comfortable than a full adult diaper. it's breathable and just regular underwear with a little bit of absorbent material. they have absorbent material built in but it doesn't go all the way to the back. if you have heavy incontinence you might end up leaking a little bit out the back. There are other options which I'll talk to you about after I show you these.
This absorbent underwear is for lighter to moderate incontinence. Like these two the m65 and m66 is the model names. They have about a 200-milliliter capacity. They also have a sort of boxer brief style that has a 300-milliliter capacity. I would really compare these.
It has a different waistband it's like a wrap in the cotton waistband which is more comfortable I think. it's just different types of preferences. it's got the same type of similar absorbent material in it. You can see it's the absorbent material is white so you can see it better on this black brief here. But you can see it doesn't go all the way back either and what's really what I really like about these is they just look like regular briefs. it does have a fly and what's really nice about it is actually a functional fly.
Which incontinence Leakproof Underwear is Most Absorbent
Here is the boxer brief style these are the M67 and these are the slightly higher capacities so these are 300 milliliters instead of 200. you can see the absorbent material actually kind of goes all the way back but it does taper off a little bit so it doesn't go all the way back but it goes, much farther back than the other ones. It is boxer brief style which I do like having a little bit of the legs on there, I feel like these are more comfortable for me. I know that this style of incontinence product doesn't really work for everybody in particular I have very heavy incontinence and my style of incontinence. I empty a full bladder all at once. Many people will just dribble a little bit and they'll have a really small bladder and this will work perfectly for them in all situations.
How Do I Choose Incontinence Underwear
It does work for me in the summertime if I'm outside and it can also work if you have heavy incontinence if you use it in conjunction with other products. it's hot and you don't want to wear a full adult diaper with plastic because just because it's so hot you. There is no incontinence product that is perfect for every single situation, you can choose according to your need.
A couple of people had some questions about them so I just thought I'd make a quick follow-up video on them. The first question I got asked is how detectable are these. When you are wearing them underneath your clothes. since you know these are basically just thick underwear, they are very discreet so they are completely undetectable.
Leakproof Underwear Look and Feel just Like Regular Underwear
No matter what product you use, it's undetectable if you dress properly. You don't need to make any changes to, that your wardrobe these can be worn with. They'll be just as detectable as regular underwear nobody's going to notice that you're wearing these so just remember that this style of product where it's absorbent underwear basically you don't need to change any sort of. But what makes these even more discreet is the waistband, these just look like regular underwear. You know for me, I need to wear full tape on adult diapers during the day and what‘s the worst thing is sticking out of your pants and it doesn't look like underwear. you know this type of product if your shirt comes up if you're bending over you're reaching up high, it's just going to look like regular underwear and that's what makes these most undetectable. the thickness of them that's you know you don't need to worry about that at all. if you are worried about it you know just wear some looser-fitting pants.
Is Men Washable Underwear Absorbent More Quickly Than Diaper
Another question that I got about these is how quickly they absorb liquid. These absorb very quickly. it seems like the cloth style incontinence products like well not cloth style actual cloth you know cotton. It's not like the polymer that has to turn into a gel. So these actually absorb very very quickly. I would probably say these absorb faster than a regular adult diaper. they do not have a super high capacity like something like this. So keep that in mind I'll wear something like this in the summertime if I'm outside in the heat. These are really really good alternatives to traditional adult diapers great for the summer heat.
